· Weekend Rewind: Johnson Misses Weight At UFC 142; Vitor’s First Catchweight Fight

There are times in mixed martial arts where even the status quo seems strange. Today’s UFC 134 weigh-ins delivered yet another one of these rare moments. UFC President Dana White teased a major announcement earlier today via twitter. When the Fuel TV broadcast began, a livid White announced that co-headliner Anthony “Rumble” Johnson has badly missed weight for his middleweight debut against Vitor Belfort.

Johnson is widely known for his inability to make welterweight, missing weight on multiple occasions. "Rumble," who was coming off a knockout win against Charlie Brenneman decided to remedy this on going issue by moving to the middleweight division. Shockingly, the extra 15 pounds was still not enough for Johnson, who tipped the scales at 197 pounds for his debut.

As per usual, White was very outspoken about the Georgia native’s weighty issues. “He moved up to 185 pounds so this wouldn't happen to him at 170 pounds and here we are in the same position again,” White angrily stated, “Anthony Johnson comes in as a total unprofessional, way overweight."

Johnson will now be fined 20 percent of his purse, and his career with the promotion is likely in jeopardy—depending on the fight’s outcome.

No stranger to catchweight bouts. Belfort agreed to take the fight, as long as Johnson weighs in tomorrow at under the light heavyweight limit.

Above is a look at Belfort’s first fight contested at a catchweight, contested at 210 pounds against Alistair Overeem. The Dutchman had previously submitted “The Phenom” via guillotine, and at "Strikeforce: Revenge," Belfort looked to erase that loss from his record by defeating the kickboxer. Unfortunately Belfort, who had a solid first round, lacked the cardio to defeat "The Reem" in the latter rounds, coming up on the short end of a unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27).
