MMA Spot's Thomas Caldwell was on hand today in Atlanta, Georgia for the "UFC 145: Jones vs. Evans" press conference. UFC President Dana White, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon "Bones" Jones, and Rashad Evans were all present to open up ticket sales for the April 21 pay-per-view event at Philips Arena. While the former teammates had on their best faces, the tension was certainly present as the two answered questions while promoting the upcoming event. Also on hand for the event was recent UFC debutant Stephen Thompson.

The near capacity crowd at the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Nebraska nearly blew the roof off the building when UFC Welterweight, and Omaha native, Jake Ellenberger walked to the cage last night for his main event showdown with former Ultimate Fighter 1 winner, and perennial UFC contender, Diego Sanchez. The two welterweight headliners for the UFC debut on Fuel TV wasted little time getting to work.
The participants for tomorrow night's UFC debut on Fuel TV all made weight in front of UFC Fan Club members and media in attendance at the Omaha Civic Auditorium on a chilly day in Omaha, Nebraska. The stare-downs did not provide much to heat things up inside. The lone exception being Tim Means. "The Dirty Bird" had some words for his lightweight counterpart, Bernardo Malgahaes. The stare-down between the two intensified almost immediately, and carried on well after UFC President Dana White gave the "ok" to separate.
Seemingly suffering from a case of insomnia, UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta opened himself up for questions late last night via his personal twitter account. While some of the answers given were simply rehashing things we already knew, a major UFC title defense was given date and a few rumored bouts were confirmed.
It has not been a good week for Nick Diaz, to say the least. This past Saturday, Diaz walked out of the Mandalay Bay Events Center on the short end of a controversial unanimous decision against Carlos Condit. The buzz about the judges’s scores was astounding, so much so that UFC President Dana White set up an immediate rematch between Diaz and new Interim UFC Welterweight Champion Carlos Condit. Unfortunately for Diaz, the rematch everyone seemed to want slipped through cracks due to a story the Stockton native is all too familiar with.
On Saturday evening, fans in London, England braved several inches of snow to pile into The Troxy for UCMMA 26. It was an incredibly action-packed card with two title bouts. In the main event, Luke Sines took on Peter Irving, who replaced Paul Daley, for the UK-1 welterweight title. The UCMMA light heavyweight title was also on the line when Aurelijus Kerpe took on Linton Vassell.
Karl "Psycho" Amoussou makes it his return to action for the first time since November when he battles Chris "The Cleveland Assassin" Lozano at Bellator 63 in March. The bout will be part of the welterweight quarterfinals for season six and will air on MTV 2 and Epix in HD. Bellator 63 will take place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Conneticut on March 30.
Their legacies were on the line. One man left an interim champion, another man left a loser. It was an epic battle, one that no one deserved to lose. No, we’re not talking about Tom Brady vs. Eli Manning. We’re talking about Nick Diaz vs. Carlos Condit, who battled inside the Octagon last night at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas at UFC 143. But before the event’s buzz fades away in the glory of Super Bowl Sunday, we still need the answers to the all-important question: What did we learn?
Saturday night’s pay-per-view “UFC 143: Condit vs. Diaz” from the Mandalay Bay Events Center crowned a new interim welterweight champion. While the wildly entertaining main event was not quite the slugfest many expected, Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit delivered an instant classic that had all the hallmarks of a legendary bout: action, drama, and a controversial decision.
